question about adjusting the poundage on a bow

Postby Ridders on Sun Jun 20, 2010 6:30 am

Hi Guys, my girl friend is really interested in doing archery, and I have a spare Mathews Mission Menance compound bow she can use. Now after reading the spec on it, I can adjust the poundage from 34 all the way up to 50 if for example the bow is set at a 28 draw length. What would happen if I took the poundage down further than 34, when the draw length is still 28?

hopefully that all makes sence

cheers guys :)

10lbs under specs should'nt hurt it, just keep an eye on the brace height. My buddy shoots a 40/50 lb Hoyt protec at 30 lbs and it preforms just as well as when it is in the 40/50 lb range. ( added benifit-- He has dry fired this bow at least 25 time with no ill effects) He says thats just to keep it on its toes  Old timers syndrome if you ask me

The bow has been set to 21lbs now, with a draw length of 28 still. She just about managed to pull that, so I'll start her off with that, and see how she goes.
Cheers for the help

Just keep an eye on how much limb bolt is still threaded in the riser... safety first!

Unless She is a pretty big Girl, that draw length seems pretty long to Me.
